The Lesson Plans by Month view, which also has the Copy Lesson Plans from Archive features is designed to work with the Lesson Plans by Subject feature. The system allows teachers to view a long-term calendar of lessons as well as copy them forward from the school archive of past terms’ lessons. Here’s a quick look at the setup.
To view Lesson Plans through the Lesson Plans by Month page, simply select a subject that you’re teaching and the lesson plans you have setup for the current term view will appear on their lesson date. Also, you can mouse over a day, click the “Add Daily Lesson” button to add a new lesson for that day.
You can drag and drop the lesson around to a different day, and right click to edit the lesson:
The “Copy Lessons” button at the top of the page directs you to a wizard that helps you migrate past terms’ lessons forward so as to view and update lessons for a new term. From the wizard, you will need to select which term and subject you’d like copy forward from the archive.
Then, select the lessons you want to copy and edit the "Start Date" for when you would like the first lesson in the selected set to appear on your calendar for the currently active term. The remaining lessons will copy in after the first lesson on days that correspond to their original distance away from the first lesson.
Once all looks good to you, click the "Copy" button to confirm the copy. The Calendar then is autofilled with your copied-forward lessons:
Now, you have a long-term view of an updated lesson set!
For reference, here’s a quick checklist of how to copy lessons forward from this view:
- Select the semester for the archived lesson plans you want to copy into the current term
- Select the subjects’ lessons you want to copy forward. Any subject from any grade can be migrated into your current term.
- Set a start date for the lessons – the lessons will copy forward in the same sequence as in the archive, starting on the day of the start date
- Confirm copy
- Drag-and-drop and edit lessons for the new term as you see fit
This feature is still in Beta, so if you would like to test it out, please contact our customer support to get it setup in your account. As always, we’d love to hear your feedback on it too.
