Undelivered Emails

Schools can now view Emails sent via QuickSchools that are undelivered:

This module currently tracks 4 scenarios (or suppression types) where emails are undelivered:

  • Generic
  • Bounce
  • Suppress-Bounce
  • Suppress-Complaint

Generic

Undelivered emails due to the “Generic” failure are non-permanent. This means that the system will continue to try sending the email for a certain period before giving up. The typical reason for the Generic failure is “Mailbox full”. So in the future, if the recipient clears up his inbox, he should receive future emails.

The “Clear” button on this record will simply remove the record from the list. But no action is actually taken on the backend, since the system will still continue to try sending emails to the recipient despite the previous failure.

Bounce

Undelivered emails due to the “Bounce” failure are permanent. This means that the system will CEASE to send emails to the address moving forward. A typical reason for the Bounce failure is “Email Account does not exist”. Any future attempts to send an email to this email will be suppressed.

The “Remove” button on this record will remove the email address from the suppression list. This means that the system will try sending to the email address on the next attempt. However, if the email is Bounced again, it will be re-added to the suppression list.

Suppress-Bounce

Undelivered emails due to the “Suppress-Bounce” failure are also permanent. In this scenario, the email was not delivered due to it previously being bounced (and was thus added to the suppression list).

Similar to the “Bounce” failure, the “Remove” button on this record will remove the email address from the suppression list, allowing future emails to be sent. However, if the email is Bounced again, it will be re-added to the suppression list.

Suppress-Complaint

Undelivered emails due to the “Suppress-Complaint” failure are permanent. It means that the recipient has marked an email from this school as SPAM. All emails going to this address will be suppressed, and will remain undelivered.

Because the recipient has marked our email as SPAM, the system will honor the request, and the email address CANNOT be removed from the suppression list.
